The Terminator
The Terminator was released by Orion on 26 October 1984

Directed by the famous James Cameron, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton. Today, the film is considered to have launched James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s careers.

Initially feared by Orion that the film would be a failure, it turned out to be a blockbuster. It remained at number one for two weeks, earning a gross income of $78,3 million on a budget of $ 6,4 million.
The Movie
The American science fiction action film is about a futuristic android sent back in time from the year 2029. His mission was to kill the mother (Sarah Connor) of the unborn John Conner in 1984. The resistance leader from the same future. John in turn sends Kyle Reese to protect Sarah.

Both arrive totally naked in 1984 and immediately start their respective missions. Consulting a telephone directory, the Terminator hunts down one woman after the other. Eventually, the terminator finds the real Sarah Connor in a nightclub, but Kyle is in time to save the day. They steal a car and make a run for it, with the assassin on their tail in a police car.

The cyborg relentlessly pursues the two, shoots up a police station, and eventually gets them trapped in a factory. Reese sacrifices his own life by blowing the machine in two at the waste, leaving the torso to still pursue Sarah. She then crawls through a metal press, luring the cyborg into the press and crushing it.

In the final scene, Sarah travels through Mexico, recording the events on tapes for the future john Connor. At a gas station, a boy takes a photo of her with a polaroid. She pays the boy for the photo, and it would turn out to be the photo that John gave to Reese just before he was sent back to 1984.
The Soundtrack
The soundtrack was composed by Brad Fiedel on a synthesizer.

The Terminator was released on VHS and Betamax in 1985. The film’s ultimate success spawned five sequels, and moviemakers are not done yet.
