Innerspace
Innerspace was released on July 1, 1987. Directed by Joe Dante and released by Amblin Entertainment. Steven Spielberg acted as executive producer.
The science-fiction comedy starred Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan, and the hilarious Martin Short. It won an Oscar for Best Visual effects. In the US it grossed $25 million at the box office and another $42 million in rental worldwide.
The Movie
Lt. Tuck Pendleton (Quaid) quits the navy to join a secret miniaturization project. The experiments go according to plan and Pendleton and the pod he pilots is shrunk to microscopic size. The idea was to inject him into a lab rabbit, but the complex gets raided by henchmen from a rival lab, stealing the syringe with Pendleton still inside.
A lab technician learns of the plans of the other company and flees with the syringe, injecting the first person he comes across. The unlucky Jack Putter (Short) is a hypochondriac grocery store employee. Pendleton’s oblivious of what is happening and assumes he is inside the rabbit. By attaching a camera to Jack’s optic nerves he discovers he is actually inside a human. From here the movie culminates into a hilarious series of events, as they attempt to rescue Pendleton
