Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is an American tv cartoon series by Disney Television Animation. It ran from 4 March 1989 to 9 November 1990 consisting of 65 episodes over 3 seasons.

A two-hour movie special called Rescue Rangers: To the Rescue, was released in September of 1989 and later broken up into five parts for television purposes.

The Show

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is based on the established Disney character, Chip ‘n Dale.

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers

The two chipmunks, Chip and Dale, start a detective agency called Rescue Rangers. They team up with Gadget Hackwrench, who creates MacGyver-style gadgets, Monterey Jack and Zipper. Monterey Jack is voiced by the famous Peter Cullen.

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers

The team takes on cases for other animals as clients and frequently crosses swords with mad scientist Norton Nimnul and Fat Cat. The latter is always accompanied by his gang of villains, Wart, Mole, Mepps, and Snout.

Merchandise

During the Autumn of 1989, McDonald’s released a range of toys with their happy meals based on the show. They resembled the main characters riding on a vehicle. Good Humor ice cream maker released a version of their ice creams branded with the Rescue Rangers name. Disney also released a comic book series in 1990 based on the show. There were 19 issues. Various video game creators released games based on the show up until 2010.

The theme song was written by Mark Mueller, who also wrote the popular Ducktales intro song, and Jeff Pescetto performed both these titles.

Feauture film

A live-action feature film is planned since January 2014, with the full use of special effects. Official filming started on 16 March 2021.
