Directed by Mike Nichols and released in 1988. ‘Working Girl’ was a box office hit that grossed $103 million. It was nominated for 5 Oscars and was awarded 1. Carly Simon’s song ‘Let the river run’, won in the Best Original Song category. The film also stars Alec Baldwin and Kevin Spacey.

The Movie

Tess McGill (Griffith) works as a secretary at a Wall Street bank. She is reassigned to Katherine Parker (Weaver), after falling out of favor with her boss. Realizing the new position has other challenges. Tess is asked to share ideas for a client, only to be shot down by her boss, who in turn steals her ideas as her own. When her boss ends up in the hospital, Tess discovers the plot and decides to make use of her boss’s absence. She decides on a plan of action and pretends to be an executive. From here she meets Jack Trainer (Ford), and the ensuing comedy and drama unfold, as she tries to hide her real identity as a secretary.
