Young Guns
Young Guns was released in 1988. Written by John Fusco, and directed by Christopher Cain. An American Western film famously revisiting the legend of Billy the Kid. A film set in the Wild West was not common in the 80s. Thanks to the domination of the synth-pop culture and rock hair bands. As well as the continuous release of teen drama and sci-fi action movies. It seemed out of place. Filming took place in New Mexico and is credited with being extremely accurate historically. The production earned $45 million at the box office.

The Movie
Emilio Estevez stars as William H. “Billy the Kid” Bonney. A cattle rancher is at odds with an influential competitor. He then hires the services of a group of young men. Also starring Charlie Sheen, Lou Diamond, and Keifer Sutherland. Tom Cruise provides a cameo in the movie. The group of men gets deputized when the rancher is murdered. On their quest for justice, Billy the Kid takes the law into his own hands. Consequently, they became outlaws and are hunted by the authorities. The group is eventually tracked down and trapped in a house. This is where the final scene plays out, and a gunfight ensues with the sheriff and soldiers.

Young Guns 1988 has since become a legend among Western film fans. A sequel, ‘Young Guns 2’ was released in 1990. Released on VHS in 1989, and DVD in 2003.
