The movie grossed $40.7 million at the box office.
The movie
The movie revolves around an experimental U.S. military robot that gets struck by lightning during a demonstration by the army. It then goes sentient, and escapes the facility.
Later it is discovered by an animal care-giver in Astoria. The woman finds out who the robot belongs to and contacts them. A recovery team is then dispatched to recover the robot, and disassemble it . One of these team members (Steve Guttenberg), then realized this robot developed artificial intelligence, and the struggle starts to save and retain the robot in it’s current form. It’s a witty light hearted sci-fi action comedy well worth watching. A true tribute to the 80’s robot craze, and fitting for the time it was released.
