Aliens

The sequel to the 1979 blockbuster Alien. James Cameron’s masterpiece, ‘Aliens‘, was released in 1986. Sigourney Weaver once again plays Ripley as only she can. Aliens earned a whopping $85 million and walked away with two Oscars. The movie had a run of spin-offs in later years.

The Terminator

Another James Cameron masterpiece. The original film in a string of sequels, The Terminator was released in 1984 and became a cult classic. It grossed $38.4 million at the box office. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays the role of a cyborg assassin sent back from the future, 2029, to kill the mother of the would-be resistance leader in its time. Truly a timeless classic.

Predator

Directed by John McTiernan, and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. A group of mercenaries is sent into a South American jungle to carry out a covert CIA operation. But they got much more than they expected. An alien, kitted out with a high-tech suit visits Earth at intervals to hunt. As the team is picked off one by one, it culminates in the last stand between hunter and prey. The movie grossed $59 million. Predator was the first installment of a franchise that would follow involving the human munching creatures from the Alien movies.

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

The Empire Strikes Back was the second of three original films, which was actually Episode 4, 5, and 6 in the Star Wars saga. It was released in 1980 and outclassed many other films of its era with the impressive special effects created by George Lucas and Lucasfilm. Directed by Ivan Kerschner. In one of his very first appearances on the silver screen, Harrison Ford continues to play the role of Han Solo. A renegade merchant pilot with his hairy compatriot, Chewbacca. The Empire Strikes Back is voted among The top 5 sci-fi movies of the 80s, for its beautiful combination of special effects, music score, and futuristic space adventure. It is the story of an alien explorer left behind by his crew, after hurriedly leaving earth to avoid capture by humans. Being released in 1982, E.T. was an instant hit. It generated a handsome $435 million in revenue for the producers. The little creature known as E.T. captured the hearts of kids worldwide, with his line “E.T. phone home” becoming a cult phrase.
