The Movie

This is easily one of the funniest movies produced in the eighties. Nick Rivers (Kilmer), is an American rock sensation, loosely based on Elvis Presley. He travels to East Germany which is ironically still under Nazi rule, to perform at a festival. All as a diversion for an operation to unite the country under East German rule.

Rivers meets up with Hillary Flammond (Lucy Gutteridge), a French underground resistance member. The two get arrested and she manages to escape. Rivers is locked up and tortured, but also manages to escape, just to discover Dr. Paul Flammond in a basement underneath the prison. Flammond’s father is held by the Germans to develop a secret anti-submarine device.

Rivers is recaptured and has to perform again to avoid an international incident. The “French Resistance” stages an operation to free Dr. Flammond, but has a traitor in their midst.

The resistance members dress up as cows to fool the prison guards and succeeded in freeing everybody. Flammond and her father return to the U.S. with Rivers.
